UMBRA
Dacă şi umbra noastră
S-ar bucura de cele cinci simţuri,
Am trăi mult mai frumos,
Cu amînouă inimile deodată.
Dar de la noi şi pînă la umbră
S-a întîmplat un lung proces
De abstractizare
Şi în ea toată insensibilitatea noastră
A atins apogeul.
Unii oameni
Nu trăiesc decît cu umbra lor
Şi nici măcar cu ea toată,
Ci pe rînd, cu cîte un ochi,
Cu cîte-o mînă.
THE SHADOW
If our shadow
Would enjoy the five senses,
We should live much nicely,
With both hearts at the same time.
But from us to our shadow
It happened a long process
Of abstraction
And in it all our insensivity
Has reached its peak.
Some people
Live only with their shadow
And not even with it all,
But in turn, with one eye,
With one hand.
