Cînd însuşi glasul gîndurilor tace
Mă-ngînă cîntul unei dulci evlavii -
Atunci te chem ; cîntarea-mi asculta-vei ?
Din neguri reci plutind te vei desface ?
Puterea nopţii blînd însenina-vei
Cu ochii mari şi purtători de pace ?
Răsai din umbra vremilor încoace,
Ca să te văd venind - ca-n vis, aşa vii !
Cobori încet...aproape, mai aproape,
Te pleacă iar zîmbind peste-a mea faţă,
A ta iubire c-un suspin arat-o.
Cu geana ta m-atinge peste pleoapă,
Să simt fiorii strîngerii în braţă,
Pe veci pierduto, veşnic adorato!

When the voice of the thought is silent,
The song of a sweet piety follows me -
Then I call you - will you listen to my song ?
From the cold darkness floating will you detach ?
The midnight gently will you make clear
With your large eyes full of peace ?
Rise from the shadows of the time now
To see you coming - as in a dream you're coming!
Slowly descend - closer, and closer,
Bend smiling over my face,
Show your love with a sigh.
With your lashes touch my eyelids,
To feel the thrills of your embrace,
Forever lost, forever adored !
