FEMEIA MEA...

Femeia mea frumoasă ca scriptura,
Nu-ţi cer nici coapsele, nici sînii şi nici gura,

Ci sufletul răscopt ca o căpşună
Cu mirosu-nţelept şi carnea bună

Şi gîndurile moi şi-adînci ca mierea
După-amiezii, spre-a spori puterea,

Şi-ţi fac din fluturi pat, din rouă masă,
Nelegiuit de alba mea mireasă,

Şi-ţi născocesc din vorbe raiul dulce
În care tinereţea ta să-ţi culce,

Cînd ziua-ţi cade tristă la picioare,
Lacrima grea, strălimpede şi mare.

MY WOMAN...

My woman, beautiful like holy scriptures,
I do not ask for your hips, or teats or mouth,

But your  ripe soul  like a strawberry
With its wise fragrance and good flesh

And your thoughts sweet and deep like the honey
Of the afternoon, to increase the power,

I make you a bed of  butterflies, a meal of dew,
My wickedly white bride,

And  I imagine a sweet paradise of words for you
Where your youth could lay down,

When the day is sadly falling at your feet,
Your big and clear and heavy tear.

ALWAYS HUMAN

always we look for what is missing to us
and give up what we need more
always we look far away
and succed only to be far from ourselves
always we hope something better than today
and to-morrow  we shall be treasure searchers in the past
always we make the same mistakes
and always we find an excuse:
erring is human and yet
always is shown to us a way to the truth
and we flirt with the lie
always we are romantic
and finally we get borred with so much romanticism
and we become pragmatic till high treason
we sell our souls and sleep on the laurels of the nothingness
always we run far from what can touch us
from what can make us weaker
always we are scared of death
and the fear cut our enthusiasm into small breathes
always we work
after the god's programme
always we say always
and never we try to be eternal.

BALADA ULTIMEI IUBIRI

THE BALLAD OF THE LAST LOVE

Hold me in your arms, my love, hold me tightly,
As you would hold a baby, not a harsh man,
Prepared from the threshold for another departure
In whose air are ringing another bells.

I have nothing of my old nature -
Inconstant, bad and lost in the tales,
But I am yearning, at last, for the first love
Waiting it to grow from what you are.

MICĂ BALADĂ

Pe mine
mă iubeau toate femeile.
Mă simţeam puternic şi sigur.
Ca Meşterul Manole,
am cutezat
să ridic o construcţie
care să dăinuie veşnic.
Am început lucrul
şi le-am chemat la mine
pe toate :
pe Maria, pe Ana,
pe Alexandra, pe Ioana...
Care întîi va ajunge,
pe-aceea-n perete o voi zidi.
Dar dintre toate femeile
a venit una singură :
Mama.
Tu nu m-ai strigat,
Fiule ?

LITTLE BALLAD

Me
all the women used to love.
I felt strong and sicure.
Like master builder
I dared
to rise a building
that will last forever.
I started working
and I called at me
all the women :
Mary, Ann,
Alexandra, Joana...
Who will come first
that in the wall I shall build.
But of all women
only one came :
Mother.
Did you call me,
Son ?

CÎNTEC DE IARNĂ

Eşti atît de frumoasă, iarna !
Cîmpul întins pe spate, lîngă orizont,
şi copacii opriţi, din fuga crivăţului...
Îmi tremură nările
şi nici o mireasmă,
şi nici o boare,
doar mirosul îndepărtat, de gheaţă,
al sorilor.
Ce limpezi sunt mîinile tale, iarna !
Şi nu trece nimeni,
doar sorii albi se rotesc liniştit, idolatru
şi gîndul creşte-n cercuri
sonorizînd copacii
cîte doi,
cîte patru.

WINTER SONG

You are so beautiful, in winter !
The field lying on back, near the horizon,
and the trees stopped  in  the running of the chill wind...
My nostrils are trembling
and no smell,
and no breeze,
only the far smell, of ice,
of the suns.
How clear are your hands, in winter !
And no one is passing,
just the white suns turn round quietly, idolatrously
and the thought grows in circles
making the trees sounding,
by two,
by four.
