A DOUA FABULĂ BIBLICĂ
Zise Dumnezeu către greier :
- " N-ai pic de creier,
Eşti eroarea mea nătîngă,
Nu faci nimic pe pămînt..."
- " Cum, nimica, Doamne ? Cînt."
Şi Dumnezeu începu să plîngă.
LA SECONDA FAVOLA BIBLICA
Disse Dio verso la cicala :
- " Non hai nemmeno un po' di cervello,
Sei il mio stupido errore,
Non fai nulla sotto il sole..."
- " Come, nulla, Dio ? So cantare."
E Dio comincio a piangere.
THE SECOND BIBLICAL FABLE
God spoke to the cricket :
- " You have no brain,
You are my stupid error,
You do nothing on the earth..."
-" Nothing, God ? I sing."
And God began to cry.
Pierdut in codrii lumii fermecate.
THE SAME WITH THE LILY
The same with the lily of the field,
Neither I weave nor I spin.
Tempted by the glory of the summer sky
With my bare thorns I turn to you :
Have a heart and throw a blanket
Of flowers with royal petals
On the back of the hoar-frosted thorn
From the moor of your lawns.
And at autumn, when he'll be withering,
Sand your peaceful lamb to gaze him.
Like the birds of the sky, I never
Come to plough, nor I take pains to harvest.
Forgetful, I hungry compete
With the flock of the plovers :
Throw from the barn of the holy angels
A handful of blessed beans
For a vagant crazy singer
Lost in the forests of the charming world.
And in winter, to pass in sunny lands
Sand your hawk to take me in its claws.
Care-i loveşte drept în inimă
HOW TO KILL THE POET
The poets are never needed.
They are some parasites, some abortions, they are all raving mad.
They don't deserve to live in the world
Because all they want is to run from it.
The poets are good for nothing. Their only talent is to disturb the public order
To make disorder among the things that scrupulously and devotedly the good people decently arrange
The poets scratch among the scraps lodged at the edge of the inhabited earth
They burn them to warm theirselves and of the ashes they make amulets
They are some pagans
Some barbarians
Some lunatics who don't deserve to live
In the camp that the worthy call world
They are often nocturnal creatures
Who feed themselves on resins, on the dust of the roads, on fire and on ghosts braised in blood
They swallow all kinds of ghosts
The poets are hard to kill
But for the public good
There are some means to annihilate them
Don't try to cut their arms or feet
The cut of their members will make them fly
As soon as they can't walk they get wings
The pain amplify their powers
The poets cannot be killed by stones
Because they know to redirect the stones to that who throws them
If they are hunged their shadows begin to dance with the shadows of the living, turning their brains,
The blood of the crucified poets still on the pitch drawing terrifying outlines
The poets cannot be destroied but by an archer who hit them straight in the heart
The archer must be of a rare beauty
So that the poet alone would make his way to the death
More the killer is beautiful, more the poet is happy to die
He knows that he'll die
Because the light in the archer's eyes can vanquis for a moment the pain
And the pain is what keeps him alive
The poets die neither of cold, neither of hunger, neither of disease, neither of old age,
They die when they are pierced straight in the heart
By the most beautiful archer who throws to them the most beautiful arrow from the most beautiful town
From the most beautiful of the possible worlds.
LEGĂMÎNT
Lui Mihai Eminescu
Ştiu : cîndva, la miez de noapte,
Ori la răsărit de Soare,
Stinge-mi-s-or ochii mie
Tot deasupra cărţii Sale.
Am s-ajung atunce, poate,
La mijlocul ei aproape.
Ci să nu închideţi cartea
Ca pe recile-mi pleoape.
S-o lăsaţi aşa deschisă,
Ca băiatul meu ori fata
Să citească mai departe
Ce n-a reuşit nici tata.
Iar de n-au s-auză dînşii
Al străvechii slove bucium,
Aşezaţi-mi-o ca pernă
Cu toţi codrii ei în zbucium.
OATH
To Mihai Eminescu
I know : once, at midnight,
Or at rising of the Sun,
My eyes will extinguish
Still over His book.
I'll reach then, maybe,
It's half nearly.
But don't close the book
As you'll do with my cold eyelids.
Leave it open
As my daughter or my son
Could read forward
What didn't succeed their father.
But if they will not listen
To the horn of ancient letter,
Put it as my pillow
With all its restless woods.
" Fii vulpe ", " Fii leu ",
cum se spune celor mai tineri.
Tocmai ieşeam din arenă, ne aflam sub stele,
sub cerul mării de august,
şi toate adevărurile care-n arenă
erau tari, substanţiale ca minereurile,
se pulverizaseră-n mii de stropi argintii
ce nu mă lăsau să vorbesc.
WE WERE JUST COMING OUT FROM THE ARENA
Because you're much younger than me,
I wanted to teach you and tell you :
" Be bold ", or : " Be patient ",
" Be a fox ", " Be a lion ",
as is told to the younger ones.
We were just coming out from the arena, we were under the stars,
under the sky of the sea of august,
and all the truths that in the arena
were strong, substantial like minerals,
had been pulverized in thousands silver drops
which didn't let me talk.
